The Build
The look and durability of a phone depend on the material it's made up of. Most of the smartphones are built with metal or plastic and very few with glass. If you drop your phone too frequently, you must avoid the glass option to be in the safe zone.

For most of us, a large display with high resolution is very fascinating. It is true that large displays cook classy but usually the more high-end the phone, the larger display it has. So, you have to decide what kind of a smartphone user you are.
If you use your phone for texting, calling and browsing the net, you could probably do with a display ranging from 5 to 5.5 inch HD or full HD resolution. If you stream videos, play high-resolution games or edit photos and videos, you need a display ranging from 5.5 to 6 inch HD or QHD resolution.
Too big displays make the phone bulky and are unmanageable with just one hand. Nowadays, AMOLED screens are grabbing more eyeballs than LCD ones and some are even HDR supported for better viewing experience.
However, if you want to secure these features, your budget must be flexible.
Camera
How many megapixels does the camera have? This is the most widely asked question to the vendor while buying a mobile. The fact of the matter is, the quality of the image does not depend on the megapixels alone.
For outstanding pictures, the other important features you must look for in a camera are the aperture, autofocus, speed, ISO levels, pixel size etc.
If you are a photo freak who is buying a phone for the camera alone then look for a phone that has 12 to 16 MP under f/2.0 or even lower for rapid shots in low lights too. Whereas, if you are a selfie person, you can do with even an 8 to 12MP camera with f/2.0 to f/2.2 aperture.
